When the Haunted Mansion first opened back in 1969 Disney Imagineers had a vision of a ghostly figure with a cane and a top hat. The ideas was that this figure’s head was supposed to disappear from his shoulders and appear in the hatbox that it was holding as you passed by. Unfortunately the effect didn’t work as anticipated due to it’s surroundings. The figure was removed and for a long time people questioned if he was ever there to begin with. Decades later a fan contributed photo to the site Doombuggies.com showed the Hatbox Ghost in his original location.

As Disneyland prepares to celebrate it’s 60th Anniversary and the #CoolestSummerEver the Hatbox Ghost made his return to the Haunted Mansion. The current guard of Imagineers did an amazing job of bringing this character back to life. I was going to post a square version of this image on Instagram and Facebook but I decided to make it available here as a free download! All I ask is that you don’t remove my watermark, tag me if you decide to use it and if someone asks where you got it, please send them to this website to get their own copy. If you really want to help me out, use the hashtag #HeyzenPhoto when posting it or tagging me. I’m @heyzenc on Instagram and if you are trying to find me on Facebook, I am at:

Note: Tagging is a little weird on Facebook so you may have to type “@Heyzen Contreras Photography” without the quotes to tag me.

I also made this pre-cropped version if you would like to use it as a Facebook cover photo.

I hope you enjoy this photo of good ol’ Hattie!

Feel free to save these for yourself and share them! I only ask that you do not remove my watermark and that you don't alter the photos in anyway (i.e. adding filters, etc) when posting.

Like any of the photos in this post? I would love it if you took a moment to like my Facebook page or follow me on Instagram and Twitter! Just click on the 'Like page' and 'Follow' buttons! 🙂
