I often get asked “what exactly is this ‘UPMA’ thingy you keep posting about?” Well, the La Puente Art Walk is located along Main Street and its surrounding streets in Old Town La Puente, CA. It’s a collection of over a dozen businesses that have opened a tiny portion of their heart and the doors to their venues to allow artists the ability to showcase their work and vend to the general public. The acronym U.P.M.A. stands for ‘Un Poquito Mas Arte’ (‘A Little More Art’ in Spanish) and has been the theme for several of the past art walks. The exhibits include painting, sketching, street art and photography. There will be over 50 different vendors in several areas throughout the course of the Art walk selling different items ranging from art to wearable and for the first time ever there will be 2 stages with live music entertainment throughout the afternoon.

This art walk will also feature some very special guests in the ‘Disney Legend Gallery‘ that include the original model for Tinker Bell, Margaret Kerry, amazing puppeteer, sculptor and former Imagineer, Terri Hardin, Romper Room’s Miss Mary Ann King, voice actor Mark Silverman (who did the voice of Rod Serling for Tower Of Terror). Animator for Disney Animation, Brian McKim will join us along with his equally talented brother, Lighting/Production Designer Matt McKim. For those of you Disney freaks, does the last name sound familiar? That’s because they’re Disney Legend Sam McKim’s boys. If all of those amazing people weren’t enough, Disney Legend Bob Gurr will also be joining us! How exciting is that?! Most Disney fans are familiar with the fact that Bob Gurr pretty much designed anything that moves at Disneyland like the Monorail, Autopia and the Matterhorn Bobsleds to name a few.

September 21st 2013 will bring us the latest installment of our growing Art Walk and we are all working very hard to make this the biggest and best to date! With all the links that fly down our Facebook walls it’s difficult to see everything that will be available so I decided to put together this quick reference list of the participating venues and their corresponding Facebook pages (if available).
